Locke Home Inspection Tools and Links

Here are some of the tools I use during your Locke Home Inspection

Circuit Sensor – I use this tool to check for live or electrified equipment. This will include the fuse box and any pipes in the crawlspace.

Flashlights – I will be crawling in dark crawlspaces and attics.  I have a million candlelight power and a MAG lite. The flashlight is the #2 tool of the home inspector.

Ladder - Since I can't fly onto roofs (yet) I have to use a ladder,  I am sure I will get the flying thing down one day.  I use a telescoping ladder that can extend to 19 feet. I also have 13 foot ladder that I use for the inside of the property.

Books – Electrical, Structure, HVAC, Plumbing. These books provide me with a wealth of information to make sure everything is proper in the property.

Extech Carbon Monoxide Meter - Carbon Monoxide is very dangerous to your health. This tool will let the inspector know how many ppm (particles per millions) of carbon monoxide may be leaking from your furnace or  fire place. I will take a ambient reading of the room.

Hitachi DS12DVF3 Drill – Provided it is safe to remove a electrical panel I will take a peek inside to make sure the breakers and wires are all in tact and up to today's standards.

Circuit Tester – A must, this tool will allow me to check for proper wiring in your outlets. Some conditions this tool can sniff out are Reverse Polarity or Open Grounds. These are conditions you would never see until something went wrong.

Binoculars - Sometimes I can't get on a roof, due to height or weather. Binoculars will let me safely inspect the roof from the ground.

Bump Cap - Since attics and crawl spaces weren't designed with home inspectors in mind I have to wear one of these to prevent head injuries.  It has saved me more than I'd like to admit.

Particulate Mask - There could be a lot of things floating around the attic and crawl space that I don't want to inhale, this will prevent that.

Tiff 8800 Combustible Gas Detector - This tool allows me to check for gas leaks on all visible gas  pipes in your property.

Tramex Moisture Detection - Excessive moisture can lead to mold. Excessive mold can lead to heath problems and damaged property.   This tool will allow me to check for moisture around windows, basements and crawlspaces.

Brain – I am licensed Illinois Home Inspector. I graduated from ITA in Glen Ellyn. I am continually investing in education in the field of Home Inspection. This is the number 1 tool of a good home inspector.

Inside Shoes - Yes, I have a pair of shoes that  I  exclusively wear indoors. I want to leave the property the exact same way I found it.
